I became 51 this year and many things are different. First, I moan when I get out of bed or a chair. For two I wear the same brand denim that my mother was wearing when I was a child. Yes, I recently discovered the best-selling jeans from Amazon-Gloria Vanderbilt’s Amandas and now I understand why my all-knowing mother was so in them.
They do what I want to do the most: sucking my belly. And somehow they are still comfortable! At the moment they are a ridiculous $ 20, from $ 48 when you apply the coupon on the page. Read on and you will discover more reasons why you might also want to try a few.

My husband and I both work from home, and he recently said he wants to wear jeans at work because they “wake him up”. Usually I slide from the coffee pot to my desk in sweat, leggings, joggers or PJ pants with wide legs that my husband calls ‘Schmattas’, but I decided that I would also turn a new denim magazine for 2025.
I dug through my closet to try some jeans, but I couldn’t find any couple that was both flattering and comfortable. My “outgoing” looked good, but they are too restrictive for clothing all day. And many pairs just felt too tight around the belly to be able to handle my daily chocolate intake. Fortunately I love shopping (it’s a kind of work) and me Love An excuse for store therapy. More than $ 200 pay me for designer jeans, so I searched Amazon-Mijn Go-t for everything in the life to find great jeans for a tasty price.
As I looked, the Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda Classic High Rise noticed, starting with a difficult to maintain $ 20 (almost 60% discount). I was intrigued – I even remember that my mother used to ask the brand. But … Gloria Vanderbilt? I hesitated because, although I am 51, me feeling 21. I have always associated the brand with people of a certain age … but I know. I am That age now. I took the jump and ordered.

When the Amanda’s were released in 1993, they were called the original slender jeans. Well, there is a reason for their lasting power, and I am happy to be able to say that I am addicted! Thanks to the brilliant invention known as Spandex, they are thick enough to retain some structure, but stretchable enough so that they are pulled over my hips my sides (or my soul) not pain. And when I zipped them, I had the feeling that I literally zipped myself in them – as if I stabbed the fleshy parts of myself that I didn’t want the world to see. (Or at least didn’t want my colleague shoppers to see Joe’s at Trader.)

Back to the spandex. I have the feeling that I have to use all the caps to convey this next point, because it is an important one: these jeans is so comfortable that I was wearing them on Thanksgiving. They not only housed the legendary sausage filling of my Grammy, but also of my sister -in -law of my sister -in -law, the carrot cake of my mother -in -law and the famous Honingham of my husband (he just gets it out of the package and puts it in the oven, but great work, sweetheart).
I don’t know exactly what the Gloria Vanderbilt gurus have done to make these jeans so flattering, but they are cut to accentuate the smallest part of your waist, eliminating Muffin-Top madness. And they are so satisfactory stretchable that my typical size actually felt overly. There were ripples near my thighs and knees who also felt, well, ripple-y. I wanted to be sucked in more, and I was afraid that they would extend over time (I was burned earlier), so I ordered a size down. Now they are denim pleasure. (To be honest, I am considering going down two sizes. These are great for my ego!)
No biggie: Only me and my friends are hanging around in all our double denim glory for a Sears Portrait studio-like sunset. (Joke.) (Gloria vanderbilt)
How I style them
I got the jeans in black for the first time, and because they are so comfortable, I wear them as leggings-gegarnated with a white t-shirt and leather jacket in the fall and a sweater and boots now that it is colder. When I realized their surprise, I ordered a medium blue couple that I usually wear more casual, with a hoodie and sneakers. (Again, I recently showed them off with black boots and a black turtleneck to dine with the girls.) They are incredibly forgiving, so you will not be uncomfortable during a night out.
How they are sustained
I have been in this for more than a year now. They have groceries, trips with friends and commuting in the city survived for work, but – and this is an important but – I don’t put them in the dryer. In my Heydey (that is, when I lived in an apartment after the university and walked five flights and three blocks to and from the laundry), I threw jeans in the dryer, but I noticed that their shape would change. Now that I have a house and my own washing machine and dryer, I machine I have my jeans in cold to gentle and I hang them up to dry. Beware: my cat’s fur clings to the black pair, so if you have pets, keep a fluff roll at hand.
How they fit
I have curves – I am an apple shape, as they say. I don’t need any jeans to make hips or a back; I thanked it very much. But I do need jeans to suck in and smooth my belly after two children. (OK, I always had a belly and use it as an excuse, but hey.) I think it’s great that they are both structured And Fair. In addition to regular lengths, they come short and long. I got regularly and they arrived with a long sticker who said “average” on it. Gloria, how do you dare! You’ve never met me! It is just like my daughters who call me ‘middle’.

Color options
There are dozens and dozens of styles to choose from, including proven trees such as the faded Blue Hartford and Dark Wash Park City, plus vintage white for warm sunny days. And if you are not the look-at-me-type, do not parade in these turquoise Caspians. The same applies to the intriguingly mentioned midnight affair autumn leaves. That looks like a casino carpet, and not in a “yay, jackpot!” way.
My judgment
Ok, rant over – let’s summarize why I am of this. First, my mother Pooch is really. I need something that will suck me and enough with high waist is that my muffin top will not go over during an important book club meeting or school function where absolutely nobody sees me, but other mothers who also try to hide their pooches.
Secondly, my ass was perfectly proportioned and is now filled with cookies, cheese fries and love. I want jeans that rock my cheeks without limiting them, which compresses them somewhat without draining. Is that too much to ask? Well, these jeans make it possible.
Finally I can’t resist a deal. Starting with just $ 20 now (again, almost 60% discount!) These are ridiculously cheap. I like to buy things, but I grew up with economical parents. SEW-Their-own-clothing economical. Never-take-vacations economical. Buy the half-a-carton-of-eieren-to that you are non-NED-12 economical. (Mom, I hope you don’t read this. Dad, forgive me from heaven to call your cheapness.)
Worth mentioning: I am not the only Yahoo editor who is a Gloria Vanderbilt -fan. Shop director Jeanine Edwards discovered a number of straight legs of Amandas while she got through Walmart’s denim options, and they belonged to her favorites and kept their own against Levis, Read, Jordache and others.
Gloria Vanderbilt
Nowadays there is no chance that I will be training through the city in too dense jeans that kind my belly like a balloonian. I also do not wear a few that is so flossy that I look like a blowfish. Allow me a Goldilocks -moment: these Amanda’s are just right.

The woman ‘behind’ it all
The queen of designer Jeans, Gloria Vanderbilt, is on her denim throne. (Gloria Vanderbilt)
Who is in a short history lesson? Gloria Vanderbilt Jeans came on the market in 1976, when I was 2. (That was when my mother fluctuated her GVs at the gas station like nobody’s things!) They marked the first big jeanswear brand for women who were actually designed by a woman. Gloria was a model in her teenage years and later became an artist and designed linen, pottery and glassware. The iconic dark blue, tight jeans contained the signature of Gloria and that omnipresent Swan logo on the back embroidered. She was the first person to use her name on denim, essentially creating the first designer jeans.
The iconic Swan logo is swimming further! (Nicole Sforza/Yahoo)
Do you have to rock and go for a piece of history and go for the Glorias? Because they now cost less than a trip to Starbucks, I say they are worth trying.
